Welcome!
I’m a California based product, strategy, and business operations leader with experience in the technology and health care industries. My expertise focuses on the conception, execution, and implementation of strategies to launch new products, enter emerging markets, scale global operations, and address the most complex issues organizations face today.
At OpenAI, I’m the Chief of Staff where I lead scaled growth, strategic planning, program management, and operational excellence for the Trust & Safety (T&S) organization. T&S builds, implements, and manages the robust policies, platforms, and teams that ensure Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is safely developed and responsibly utilized. OpenAI is an AI research and deployment company based in San Francisco, California whose mission is to ensure that AGI benefits all of humanity. From founder Sam Altman: “If AGI is successfully created, this technology could help us elevate humanity by increasing abundance, turbocharging the global economy, and aiding in the discovery of new scientific knowledge that changes the limits of possibility.” OpenAI’s cutting-edge technology includes ChatGPT, DALL-E, and Whisper.
Prior to OpenAI, I was a Product Manager at Chime on the Core Experiences team where I owned the product strategy and roadmap for Personalization and Member Experience. Core Experiences led initiatives for Chime’s most important products including Enrollment, New Member Experience, Virality (Referrals), Personalization, and Platforms to get Chime’s product in the hands of the next XX million members. Chime is the fastest growing challenger bank in the United States with a mission to bring financial peace of mind to all Americans through innovative financial products like fee-free checking and savings accounts, SpotMe and Boost (overdraft protection), Pay Anyone (P2P payments), lending, insurance, and more.
Prior to Chime, I was a Strategy and Operations Lead of Global Business at Google. I provided thought leadership to cross-vertical leadership teams, delivered business insights through a customer and industry focused view, and developed initiatives, plans, and metrics to operationalize strategies for Google’s $100+ billion Ads business. My work influenced executive stakeholders and impacted cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence and exceed ambitious organizational goals as we built for the next billion users. Google has 8 products that have over 1 billion users worldwide (Search, Gmail, YouTube, Chrome, Android, Google Maps, Google Play Store, and Google Drive) and a suite of services that reaches over 90% of people on the internet.
Prior to Google, I worked for one of the most groundbreaking and dynamic startups, Airbnb, whose mission is to create a world where everyone belongs through a robust, reliable, and innovative platform that connects millions of people together. I advanced that mission as a Global Program Manager on the Infrastructure and Innovation team where I drove the execution of critical strategic and operations initiatives as new products are launched. In 10 years, Airbnb has grown to 5+ million listings in over 191 countries– larger than the world’s top 5 hotel brands combined– and continues to disrupt the travel industry with new and innovative services that empower local communities across the globe.
Prior to working in tech, I was a management consultant at Deloitte specializing in life sciences and health care. My work was meaningful to me because of the tremendous impact it had on protecting vulnerable patient populations, optimizing operational performance to improve outcomes, increasing accessibility and affordability of care, and maintaining the integrity of the United States health care system. My projects have included everything from formulating and executing strategic initiatives to large-scale process and program implementation for some of the largest Fortune 500 hospitals, health systems, and organizations across the country.
I graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (Go Bruins!) with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Anthropology and the University of Southern California (Fight On!) with a Master of Health Administration (MHA) from the Sol Price School of Public Policy. I am currently working on a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from the Whiting School of Engineering at The Johns Hopkins University.
Outside of work, I have 15+ years of experience as a career coach and academic mentor where I’ve helped over 500+ students and young professionals around the world secure dream offers from elite universities such as Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, INSEAD, and UCLA and top companies such as Google, Facebook, Airbnb, McKinsey, Bain, and the Boston Consulting Group. I’ve provided career advice, university admissions consulting, job hunting strategies, resume/CV/cover letter reviews, interview preparation (behavioral and case study), and other guidance to better equip the next generation of young professionals for success. I’m a public speaker frequently invited by companies, universities, and affinity groups to present on topics such as: leadership, career growth strategies, workplace dynamics, work-life balance, and interpersonal skills.
I’m an avid traveler who has explored over 40+ countries in 6 continents. I’m also heavily involved in multiple charitable organizations whether through the commitment of time or the contribution of resources to extend the opportunities I’ve received in life to others in need.
